The 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London promise weeks of excitement for soccer fans (or “football” fans, as the English hosts would say). The excitement kicks off on July 25, when the women’s teams play their first matches. Men’s teams begin play the following day, and the playoffs continue through August 11, when the medal events conclude.
The participants, consisting of 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams, and will take place at six venues throughout the U.K., including the City of Coventry Stadium, Hampden Park in Glasgow, Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, and London’s Wembley Stadium.
Those lucky enough to be in London this summer will find that tickets to live games are priced fairly reasonably, at around £20 for the general public, with discounts available for children and seniors.
