The United Way’s 2-2-1 service provides a free, confidential helpline and website through which individuals can obtain information and referrals for assistance with health and human services. By calling 2-2-1, individuals can speak with a community resource specialist, who can help them find local organizations that provide human services.
The 2-2-1 program offers information about shelter and housing, food and nutrition programs, emergency and disaster relief, employment and education opportunities, addiction prevention and rehabilitation, and domestic abuse services. The United Way even provides information regarding veterans services and re-entry assistance for ex-offenders.
The United Way’s 2-2-1 service is available by both phone and computer in the United States and several regions in Canada. To learn more about the program, visit www.211.org.
