Each year, the Houston Hot Sauce Festival attracts more than 20,000 chili pepper enthusiasts from across the world for a weekend of music, food, and family-friendly events. On September 19 and 20, guests and vendors gathered for the 15th annual festival, held at Stafford Centre. Sponsored by the Greensheet and Yelp, the event showcased hundreds of award-winning products, including hot sauces, salsas, and jams.
In addition to hearing live music from the Zydeco Dots and Willie B and the Silverbacks, attendees sampled hot sauces at vendor tables and participated in SilverLeaf International’s Ghost Pepper Salsa Eating Competition. The festival also featured a wide range of children’s activities, from free face painting to balloon toss games. Throughout the weekend, the merchandise tent offered shirts and mugs promoting the festival’s Orange Is the New Hot theme. A portion of festival proceeds benefited Snowdrop Foundation, which provides monetary support to the families of children living with cancer.
